Three of the most common wardrobe woes that ladies bring to us are:

Dilemma – My wardrobe is dated and I feel boring.

Solution – We find many ladies lose confidence as they get older and so shy away from colour and stick to a neutral, so called “safe” palette of beiges, greys and blacks.  Although some may argue this looks classic, it also looks boring and can be ageing.  Black is not everyone’s friend and especially as skin and hair lighten, it can look harsh and draining.  Although many people choose black as “it has a slimming effect and goes with everything”, many other colours can have the same effect and are much more youthful and interesting.   Adding colour, in tones that flatter you, is a fantastic cheap and easy way to update your look.

Dilemma – I am scared of making a fashion faux pas and looking like mutton dressed as lamb.

Solution – As the saying goes “Style Stays as Fashion Fades” – the key is to understand your bodyshape and then you can be a Style Goddess whatever your age.  Most women focus on their negatives, but by understanding your own good points and using clothes and accessories to show them off, you can be selective as to which fashion trends will work for you.

Dilemma – My bodyshape has changed and I feel like nothing suits me.

Solution – Life is too short to cling on to a wardrobe you are going to slim into one day.  Stop punishing yourself and learn to love who you are and live for today.  By clever use of optical illusions you can look taller, slimmer, wider, shorter – use horizontal lines to widen and verticals to lengthen.

Honestly we can make you look a dress size smaller!

Well…what a night, we swapped til we dropped . 

A massive thank you to all(over 100!) of you who supported our Clothes Swap Event on 28th September. 

A great time was had by all – watching our Charity to Catwalk Fashion Show, beautifully modelled by the fabulous Chas volunteers and eagerly swapping .  As the saying goes “One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure!”

The fantastic news from CHAS is that we raised a whopping £1059.62 to date. 

So,  thanks to all of you for making that happen.

Congratulations also to our “Hostess with the Mostest” who won 2 hours of our time, as she had the highest sales at one of our Accessories Parties from June til September.

There was a real buzz about the night and we have had lots of good feedback already, but we would love to know your thoughts.

All those of you out there who have been styled by us, have been asking for a Clothes Swapping event for years.  We all have some clangers in our wardrobe that we know no longer (or maybe never did!) suit us – but as the saying goes one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure, so help us raise money for CHAS by delving into the depths of your wardrobe and coming along to this fun evening.

It’s a win win – you clear your closet, you have a fun night out with friends, you help raise money for a fab cause, you help save the planet and you might even find yourself some style treasures!!

Tickets are selling fast, so get in touch to reserve yours.  We know some of you “classic wardrobe personalities” out there are worried about the rules ( and the dress code of their trash!) Hope this helps:

How many items should I bring?  Please bring 5 carefully worn garments on hangers. NB a suit counts as 2 items.

Does it have to be designer?  No.  This is a fun fundraising evening – we are not attaching monetary value to the items, but we do request that the garments you bring are clean and in good condition(no buttons missing etc).

Do I have to bring 5 items?  Yes, to make the event a success for everyone we need a wide range of styles & sizes, but if you really want to come and don’t have 5 items please give us a call and we will see what we can do.

What else is happening on the night?  We will be showing you how to make the Autumn Winter trends work for you, as well as being on hand to offer style advice on your finds!

There will be a fashion show using CHAS clothes and us showing you how the stylists turn charity to catwalk.

Also, a raffle for CHAS with some great prizes.

There will also be a nutritionalist on hand to offer advice.

Resolution – Learning which fabrics and cuts flatter your bodyshape will take the stress out of shopping.

It’s not about height and weight, it’s about balance and proportion. One simple tip is, use focal points to draw the eye to the parts of the body you like the most, by doing this you will take the eye away from the bits that you are not so happy with. For more individual advice get in touch.

Learning which colours harmonise with your natural colouring gives a much more youthful flattering look!!

HOWEVER, we know that most of you out there love to wear black so here are some things to remember – black is harshest when it’s next to your jaw line. To combat this:  use scarves, jewellery in more flattering shades to you. A lower neckline can also make a difference. Even the fabric will make a difference, why not try sheer and softer.
