If you find yourself on holiday with excess baggage charges and then only wearing a fraction of the garments you crammed into your case, you are in need of a capsule wardrobe. We can show you how to get over 30 different looks out of a few key pieces, in fact we promise you could fit all of this into hand luggage
The key to the Capsule Wardrobe is knowing your colour pattern so all your best colours mix and match effortlessly. Choose a couple of neutral colours as a base and then add accents.
Think 4 bottom half pieces and 8 tops, or for women substitute in a couple of dresses. Gentlemen, don’t get caught short – some restaurants specify long trousers.
Also ladies, don’t forget a Pashmina/Wrap – Our top tip for the summer. There are loads of these around in fab summer colours and prints. Incredibly flexible, inexpensive failsafe with many uses from a scarf to a sarong to a blanket for those chilly air conditioned planes!
But we can’t help but notice that as the layers come off, some people also shed their style sense! Black knickers under a white dress, spanx the same length as your dress so they show when you bend over, boring black! (Come on the sun is out!).
So here is our quick guide to looking cool, even when it’s hot 🙂
Sunblock There is nothing worse (not to mention the health risks) than unsightly red stripes on white skin – no outfit can look good against that background!
Our top tip is use Once a Day Suncream (try Piz Buin or P20) that way you can cover up all over as soon as you come out the shower in the morning and you don’t get suncream all over your clothes. These are on offer at Sainsburys and Semichem at the moment.
Nude, seamless knickers Even white can show through. Remember to check from all angles in a full length mirror before you leave the house.
Bra straps can be a bit of a bind and spoil the look of your strappy top – again try nude, clear, colours that tone with your outfit or you can buy fancy ones from diamante to daisy- let us know if you want stockists details.
Ditch the black – it’s summer. Or at least try adding some accents – a necklace or brooch could brighten up your look. After all, “Colours are the smiles of nature”
PRETTY PASTELS OR NEON BRIGHTS
- Keep colours not in your palette, away from your face – try coloured trousers or skirts.
- If you are not brave enough to wear head to toe colour, add pops of colour with accessories – bold bags, necklaces and scarves will ensure you look on trend.
- To keep your look chic – select your best neutral and team it with one colourful piece.
WHITE a summer staple – A Friend or Foe?
A fab, fresh look for summer. But remember, pure white close to the face is not flattering for all – it can leave you looking washed out.
Remember, light colours will draw attention and widen, so be careful on which parts of your body you wear them to create balance.
